THE PRECIOUS DARK
The Precious Dark is the first collaboration from David Helpling and Eric "the" Taylor. These long form pieces first born in clear and soft tones from a deep emotional core, each seem to bloom in grand and surprising colors. The full weighted bass tones and resonant harmonic structures will fill any space, but beneath it all this union has somehow yielded a more wistful and moody feeling. Spotted Peccary Music is proud to present Interdwell, the debut album from the group Dark Sky Alliance, comprised of music industry veterans percussionist Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Indigo Girls), keyboardist Rupert Greenall (The Fixx), soundscaping synthesist Eric “the” Taylor, and cinematic sound-maestro guitarist David Helpling. This visionary premiere is a feat of sonic storytelling, each composition a different scene. Hidden in Interdwell’s kaleidoscopic sound are shades of all their past work: new wave guitar flourishes, tribal ambient percussion, richly layered synth-beds, Hans Zimmer- esque cinematic crescendos—but here, they coalesce into something uniquely vivid and bracingly original, something the members of Dark Sky Alliance could only make together.

About David Helpling

David Helpling is an award-winning recording artist whose bold sound and haunting melodies have made him a favorite of the Ambient Electronic field, but his signature liquid guitar often takes a shimmering step between genres, often making his music unquantifiable. Working out of his Southern California studio, David is self-produced and is finding new purpose and creative direction by collaborating with other artists. With eight official releases to date and several more in production, he doesn’t show signs of slowing.
